STANDARD BANK CYCLE FOR KIDS

CYCLE 4 KIDS 2009 – POWERED BY STANDARD BANK

Cycle 4 Kids is a fundraising initiative powered by Standard Bank but fueled by the commitment of some 50 cyclists who undertake to raise funds for children. A large portion of the funds are donated to Kibwe Kids and Dinaledi Schools, who take care of children who are either affected or effected by HIV Aids.

The vehicle used to generate these funds is a cycling trip from Johannesburg to Durban for which the riders solicit sponsorship. The trip starts in Vereeniging on Thursday 15th October and ends in Durban after the riders have completed the final leg of their tour, being the Amashovashova National Cycle Classic, on Sunday the 18th October. The 2009 Cycle 4 Kids fundraising initiative is well under way and the cyclists need your support to make this year's ride the most successful yet - no matter the size of your contribution know that you are making a visible difference and helping Kibwe Kids and Dinaledi Schools reach out to even more children across South Africa! If you would like to make a pledge, visit www.kibwekids.net

The Cycle 4 Kids route covers some of South Africa's most beautiful landscapes and although difficult, makes the ride worthwhile! To give you a better idea of what these cyclists endure, here are some of the highlights the cyclists are gearing up for:

Thursday, 15th October Cyclists begin their ride in Stonehaven-on-Vaal in Vereeniging, riding a total of 170km.

Friday, 16th October An early start will have everyone on the road for a long day of riding, including 20km down Oliviershoek Pass en route to Winterton, the night stop over point. Total distance covered: 210km.

Saturday, 17th October By now for most, the muscles will hurt a little and the rear-end will be feeling the distance already covered! Beautiful landscapes will ease the pain, as the cyclists make their way to Pietermaritzburg. Total distance covered: 175km.

Sunday, 18th October The cyclists finish their ride by participating in the Pick n Pay Amashovashova National Classic. Total distance covered: 106km. Cycle 4 Kids is now in its 8th year and the 2007 Team raised the impressive sum of R1, 38million, thanks to the generosity of all the sponsors.
