CYCLE 4 KIDS 2009 – POWERED BY STANDARD BANK You can also make a donation

Cycle 4 Kids is a fundraising initiative powered by Standard Bank but fuelled by the commitment of some 50 cyclists who undertake to raise funds for children. A large portion of the funds are donated to KiBWE KiDS, Tusunani (a school for physically and mentally disabled) and Ethembeni (a black abandoned aids babies home).
The vehicle used to generate these funds is a cycling trip from Johannesburg to Durban for which the riders solicit sponsorship. The trip starts in Heilbron on Wednesday 13th October and ends in Durban after the riders have completed the final leg of their tour, being the Amashovashova National Cycle Classic, on Sunday the 17th October. The 2010 Cycle 4 Kids fundraising initiative is well under way and the cyclists need your support to make this year's ride the most successful yet - no matter the size of your contribution know that you are making a visible difference and helping Kibwe Kids, Tusunani and Ethembeni reach out to even more children across South Africa! If you would like to make a pledge, visit www.kibwekids.net
The Cycle 4 Kids route covers some of South Africa's most beautiful landscapes and although difficult, makes the ride worthwhile! To give you a better idea of what these cyclists endure, here are some of the highlights the cyclists are gearing up for:
Wednesday, 13th October Cyclists begin their ride in Heilbron, riding a total of 170km to Clarens.
Thursday, 14th October Setting out from Clarens through the Golden Gate Nature Reserve, will see the team cover 145km to Bergville.
Friday, 15th October An early start will have everyone on the road for a long day of riding. Today’s route starts outside of Bergville and sweeps through the winding Midlands to arrive in Pietermaritzburg. Total distance covered: 175km.
Saturday, 16th October This year being 2010, the race organisers of the Amashovashova event have introduced a ‘Double Challenge’ where cyclists will ride UP from Durban and DOWN from Pietermaritzburg the following day.
Sunday, 17th October The cyclists finish their ride by participating in the Pick n Pay Amashovashova National Classic. Total distance covered: 106km.
